Corridor A
The first tunnel encountered on New Silph Island. Clean, functional, and Silph-branded β built over something older.
Overview
Corridor A is the official Silph Co. designation for the islandβs first underground passage. It connects The Harbor Town to the islandβs interior and serves as the playerβs introduction to underground travel on New Silph Island.
The name is deliberate in its blandness β a Silph Co. rebranding of infrastructure they did not build.
History
Corridor A was originally constructed by Team Rocket as part of their early operations on the island. Under its Rocket designation β Shaft Zero β it was the first tunnel bored into the islandβs subsurface.
When Silph Co. reactivated and repurposed the passage, the old signage was stripped and replaced. It was widened, lit, and given a new name. On official maps and Helix Corp materials, there is no mention of Shaft Zero.
Players who look carefully may find remnants of the original designation still visible in the tunnel walls.
Characteristics
- Human-built, metallic, functional
- Well-maintained relative to deeper tunnels
- First step away from the clean surface world
- No significant Glitch Effect activity at this depth
Connections
- Entrance: The Harbor Town
- Exit: The Industrial Interior
Notes
The naming contrast is intentional. Rocket used a utilitarian alphanumeric code (Shaft Zero). Silph Co. chose something that sounds like infrastructure, not history. The tunnel is the same. What changed is who gets credit for it.
