Clearance 4 — The Power Plant
| Location | The revitalised power plant, main island outskirts |
| Challenge type | Puzzle / environmental |
| Story choice | ⭐ Beat 2 — second tracked choice |
| Tone | The clean surface is cracking |
What Happens
The island’s power plant is older than the Silph Co. signage suggests. It was brought back online to support the expedition’s infrastructure — but since reactivation, it has been causing Glitch Effect spikes across the island. The research team needs it stabilised.
The player navigates the plant, restores power to failing sections, and deals with Pokémon that have gone haywire near the generators. The deeper they go, the older the equipment looks. Then, from somewhere far below the plant’s foundation, a signal pulses. The Glitch Effect spikes island-wide for the first time. Colress is nearby. He’s very calm. He pulls out a device and starts taking readings.
Helix Corp arrives fast — faster than they should have.
⭐ Story Choice — Beat 2
A signal is pulsing from somewhere beneath the plant. Helix Corp wants it cut immediately. Colress is nearby — he looks very interested.
| Option | What Happens | Tracks | |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Help Helix Corp shut it down | Signal cuts. Helix Corp is efficient, grateful, slightly too relieved. Edmund finds another manifest discrepancy nearby — more old equipment with no Silph Co. origin. | +1 Containment |
| B | Follow the signal before it’s cut | The signal leads to a deeper chamber. First unmistakable sign of Porygon-3’s presence. Colress finds you there. He says: “This has been running for a long time.” | +1 Evolution |
After the Choice
Both paths converge as Helix Corp locks down the plant’s lower levels. Clearance 4 is issued — the player is thanked for “stabilising the situation.”
Key Moments
- The plant’s age — Silph Co. paint over something much older underneath
- Colress reading the signal — he’s not alarmed, he’s delighted
- Path A: Helix Corp’s relief is disproportionate; Edmund’s second manifest anomaly quietly stacks with the first
- Path B: Porygon-3’s presence confirmed; Colress begins his case
- The lockdown that follows — the player is cleared, but part of the plant is now inaccessible forever
What the Player Learns
- The power plant is Rocket infrastructure beneath Silph Co. branding
- Porygon-3 is real and active somewhere beneath the island
- Helix Corp’s interest in the signal is not about safety
Converging Path
Both A and B are locked out of the plant’s lower levels after this beat. Path B players have confirmed Porygon-3’s presence; Path A players have another manifest fragment. All players proceed to Clearance 5.
